About Us
Once a dairy farm that sat on over 400 acres, Anchor & Hope Farm in Port Deposit, Maryland has been in the Merryman family since 1965. Currently a full-service thoroughbred horse operation run by Grace and Louis Merryman, Anchor & Hope handles all aspects of breeding and stallion management.
Grace and Louis welcomed their son, Max McLane Merryman, into the family on December 16, 2022 – born prematurely at just 24 weeks, weighing in at 1lb 11oz & 13 inches. We're in the business of beating odds, and Max left Tufts Hospital in Boston, after 120 days on April 15, 2023, at a very solid, handsome and healthy 7 pounds 10 ounces and 20.5 inches long.
The Trading Post is Anchor & Hope's latest venture, created during Max's time in the NICU, as an authentic extension of the Anchor & Hope brand. The Trading Post offers products that are high quality and resilient, ready to wear for whatever the day throws at you.
In an industry that requires thick skin, relentless determination, and an occasional stroke of luck, the Merrymans have relied on the former while overdue for the latter (stories for another day). But it’s more our style to create our own luck, so thank you for representing our farm and our family.
